Klaus GRIMM, Daimler AG and ARTEMIS Industry Association, Germany

Speaker Biography: D. Klaus Gimm is Director of Electric/Electronics and Software Technology Group Reseach and Advanced Engineering for Daimler AG. After finishing his mathematics studies at the Technical University of Brunswick, Klaus Gimm stated his career at the AEG Reseach Institute in Berlin in 1980. He initially worked on reliability engineering fo technical systems, late on several different software engineering topics. Parallel to his occupational activities he did his doctor’s degree in computer science in the field of systematic testing of software-based systems at the Technical University Berlin in 1995. After being team leader and department manager, he has been head of Software Technology Group Reseach and Advanced Engineering at Daimler AG since1998, from October 2009 on including the responsibility for Electric/Electronics Technology. From 1998 until 2006, he was responsible for the Daimler Reseach and Technology Center in Bangalore, India.

Speaker Biography: Denis Chapuis joined the French Naval Academy in 1975 and the French Submarine Force in 1979. He has been Project Officer of the new SSN Barracuda being presently built for the French Navy and of the M51 ballistic missile, developed by EADS Astrium. He has also an extensive experience in tactical data processing, having participated into the development of the system presently on board all French submarines. He left the French Navy in 2000 to join PSA Peugeot Citroën as senior research manager. He then spent one year as the Engines & Gearboxes Product Planner for PSA worldwide, before joining EADS where he works at the corporate level, as Vice President Research and Technology. He is especially in charge of coordination the R&T efforts throughout EADS Group, in the field of Sensors, Electronics and Signal Processing.

Speaker Biography: Alberto Sangiovanni Vincentelli holds the Edgar L. and Harold H. Buttner Chair of Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences at the University of California at Berkeley. He was a co-founder of Cadence and Synopsys, the two leading companies in the area of Electronic Design Automation. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Cadence, Sonics, and Accent. He was a member of the HP Strategic Technology Advisory Board, and is a member of the Science and Technology Advisory Board of General Motors and of the Technology Advisory Council of UTC. He is a member of the High-Level Group, of the Steering Committee, of the Governing Board and of the Public Authorities Board of the EU Artemis Joint Technology Undertaking. He is member of the Scientific Council of the Italian National Science Foundation (CNR) and a member of the Executive Committee of Italian Institute of Technology. He received, among others, the Kaufman Award of the Electronic Design Automation Council for “pioneering contributions to Electronic Design Automation” and the IEEE/Royal Society of Edinburgh Wolfson James Clerk Maxwell Medal “for groundbreaking contributions that have had an exceptional impact on the development of electronics and electrical engineering or related fields”. He holds an Honorary Doctorate from University of Aalborg, Denmark. He is an author of 880 papers, 15 books and 3 patents. He is a Fellow of the IEEE and a Member of the National Academy of Engineering.
